|
|
I want to setup an email server on my computer but with a few custom needs and i was wondering if someone could give me a good starting point.
Firstly, i want to support virtual accounts for my domain, not many people in total. Second, since i am on a dynamic ip and whatnot I'd like to use the supplied email server from my isp to send email(route all my email through the email server that my isp gives me).
I want IMAP also, and the ability to download email from my multiple accounts, including that of my domain. I'd like others to be able to setup downloading of their email from other source besides the address i supply also, preferably through a webmail interface so its easy for them.
Lastly i want a webmail interface so i can download/send from anywhere. |

Since you have a dynamic IP I'm assuming this is a home computer connected over DSL or cable. If so, check if incoming port 25 is blocked. If it is, like it is for me and many others, you can't run a mail server. Your server would never receive any mail. _________________ Plenty of reasons to not use Microsoft software |

I can receive and send mail just fine, but the main problem i am facing is a lot of isps reject my mail because of my dynamic ip. The port isn't blocked. |

For your dynamic IP needs, I recommend http://www.dyndns.org/. I've been using them for years. If you let their systems handle your DNS records, they should be able to help you in directing mail.
As for actually administering e-mail servers I'm useless, sorry _________________ Plenty of reasons to not use Microsoft software |

Yeah i am using them at the moment, but the fact is my ip is still a dynamic residential dsl ip. So its rejected all around for sending. |
