I've been reading about cpumsr

This is a windows program which can set msr registers. Amongst other things you can adjust the multiplier of unlocked xp chips

I have just bought an xpm 2500+. I was planning on doing frequency scaling on my htpc. Its in an matx box and gets pretty hot. I have now discovered that you cant do this with cpufreq without a laptop bios or programming skills.

To make matters worse my bios epox 8kmm+ doesnt allow me to change the multiplier so its boots at 6x and that is all I get.

I was wondering if anybody knows how to use /dev/cpu/0/msr to set tne multiplier the same way the above mentioned windows code does?

I know I could blow up the chip and I will assign no blame. I'm not really looking to over clock although may underclock.
