I've always kept my USE flags to a bare minimum (6-7 at most) besides compiling extra possible software due to the added USE flags and requirements...Is there any other downfalls between using say...10-12 USE flags compared to 26-28? |

I would say there aren't any pitfalls for having a lot or a little number of USE flags specifically. The only pitfall is not having the RIGHT flags. If you have a specific need that is covered by a USE flag, go ahead and add it. If you don't need it anymore, remove it. |

Indeed.
Remember that there is a default USE flag anyway which has about 50 options in it! It's there so that certain things are always turned off/on until the user directly turns them on/off in /etc/make.conf
Don't worry about having lots - but spend time thinking about what you NEED _________________ AMD64 3200+, 1024MB RAM, Gentoo Linux
