I just updated Gimp to 2.0.4. When I opened Gimp, I get this little .... ?note?.

Code:
You are using GLib version 2.4.4.

This version of GLib contains a bug affecting filename conversions. The GIMP won't be able to open any file with non-ASCII characters (e.g. umlauts) in its filename.

Please upgrade to GLib 2.4.5 or newer.

Do I 'really' need to upgrade Glib? I'm using glib-2.4.4 at the moment. etcat shows these are available:

Code:
root@smoker /home/dale # etcat -v glib
[ Results for search key           : glib ]
[ Candidate applications found : 7 ]

 Only printing found installed programs.

*  dev-libs/glib :
        [  I] 1.2.10-r5 (1)
        [   ] 2.2.3 (2)
        [   ] 2.4.0 (2)
        [   ] 2.4.1 (2)
        [M~ ] 2.4.2 (2)
        [  I] 2.4.4 (2)
        [M~ ] 2.4.5 (2)

Looking for info before I unmask this. I have read this is a pretty crucial thing. Don't want to fsck my system.

Any ideas? What should I do :?: :?: :?:

Thanks for the help. I did a search, I guess this is new. 8O

well, as long as you're able to open whatever you want, i wouldn't worry about it. otherwise, just rename it to something safe. I don't think it is a good reason to unmask the next version of glib for it.

Thanks. I'll wait till they unmask it. At least then maybe it won't break something if I do it and there is something wrong with it.

Thanks again.
