Hi guys, I am wondering if I can put gentoo on an old 225. It has a 225 Mhz processor, 96 mb of RAM, an old Ati card, and a host of scsi hardware.
My question is:
What will I need?
Will I need a floppy to boot?
Can I use fluxbox?
What are my options?
I want this on that mac because Mac OS 8.1 is killing me.... _________________ CPU: 3800+ X2 (2.5Ghz)

1. You will need either BootX or Mklinux boot loader...but what version depends on the exact mac model...so please give me a model #
2. No need for a floppy
3. Old world macs can't boot linux directly from a cd or the hd...what has to happen is the kernel must be on the mac os partition then an extension that loads at boot will switch the computer over to linux
It takes a little more paintience to install but can be done |
