Hello,

I have Compaq Presario 1500 notebook and installed gentoo-dev-sources. I chose to compile the kernel with ACPI support, added acpi=on to the grub.conf and emerged acpid. Well, everything looks normal (there is battery meter, acpid understands the events of closing lid etc), but one problem, that fan is working all the time. When I pass acpi=off to the boot line, fan is working as it should work - in intervals. As I understand (after reading everything that I could find about acpi setup) fan should be controlled automatically, you do not need to write any event procedures.
Where should I search for the solution? Or maybe it would be simplier to enable APM support. How about the functionality?

Thank You for all thoughts in advance.
