Alright, so I did everything.. did win2000 on /dev/sda, gentoo on /dev/sdb..
Grub works ok.. all that. But when trying to start gentoo, it all goes ok then it freezes up when the kernel is loading.
The error is:
Code: |
ata2: DMA timeout, stat 0x64
|
I'm using gentoo-dev-sources 2.6 kernel..
I compiled the sata driver under low level scsi drivers.. I have a nforce2 chipset with Silicon Image controller
Not sure what the error is related to, I did some trial and error trying to disable some drivers that I thought was the problem and recompiling the kernel. I'm at work now so I'll try more later when I get home. |

Hey which version of the gentoo-dev-sources kernel are u using. I had this problem with gentoo-dev-sources-2.6.7-r13. I went back to r8 and everything was ok again. Im testing the 2.6.8 kernel as we speak. |
