DesignJet 5500ps over samba problem

I have a 42" designjet 5500ps printer working fine from linux, used the kde print management to set up cups and install printer. The idea is to use the linux box as a print server.

I am sharing the printer via samba, set the shared printer up on a windows workstation, install the drivers as normal (I have tried several drivers). Sending a print to the shared printer works as normal.

The problem comes when it actually prints. When printing directly from linux it works perfectly. When printing from windows via samba the printer just prints out the ascii postscript, not the image (or whatever) i was trying to print.

Any ideas?
