Hi!
Ich will meinem kleinem Server ein RAID System spendieren, natürlich mit neuen HD etc.
Da dieser keinen 64 Bit PCI-Slot besitzt, werde ich mir kaum ein RAID5 System aufsetzen. Also liebäugle ich eher das 1+0 System. Ich will S-ATA Platten und nun fehlt mir noch ein Kontroller. Gibt es da gewisse Empfehlungen? Z.B. den Promise S150 TX4 (was ja kein reiner Hardware-RAID-Kontroller ist) oder soll ich einfach einen S-ATA Kontroller kaufen und Software RAID aufsetzten?

HI
I have a root software raid (raid 0) running on SATA, works like a charm - but I do backup more than I used to.. just in case.
Hdparm is telling me the improvement is around 90% of the slowest disks (I have two WD Raptors 36 and 74 GB - could not afford two 74GB rigth now).
hdparm -tT gives: 855 / 96 MB/s, which is not too bad for a non-scsi setup. |
