Moz/java-plugin not recognised (1.4.0-gentoo-1040328867)

Hi,

after a long struggle, I managed to get the sun java plugin working with Mozilla, primarily because I need it to do my netbanking.
Alas! When I logon to my netbanking page, I get this:

You are using a Plug-in Java Virtual Machine that is not supported. The supported JVMs are : (bunch of versions from 1.3.0 to 1.4.1)

Looking at about:plugins I see my plugin is :
Java(TM) Plug-in 1.4.0-gentoo-1040328867
What gives? Why isn't it just called 1.4.0? Is there a way to change this name back? I know it can work, because I've used before under Linux, and I was currently keeping an old win partition just for this. I'd hate to have to keep this just because the name of my JVM under linux is not accepted...

Any ideas? Do I change some code and recompile, or should I do a sed on the .so?

Hi fellow Belgian,

I assume you're using DEXIA netbanking ? I'm having similar problems, even on windows : I'm using java 1.4.1_01 while the latest supported version is 1.4.1 - duh. I mailed them to ask when the latest version would be supported, and they had the helpful suggestion to downgrade...

On linux my VM is :

Java(TM) Plug-in 1.4.0-jv_compiled-2002-10-31

Same problem. Easiest way would be to trick the VM to give back 1.4.0 like it should...any hints are appreciated!
