slightly irritating

i did an emerge -uDv world the other day, which updated gnome from 2.6 to 2.6.2 (i think), and now whenever i change the volume using the keys on my keyboard the volume logo thing pops up in the top left hand corner of the screen (not the centre, like it should), then moves to just below centre when i press another volume key. here is a screenshot - http://www.geocities.com/tomharris56/volume.png

does anyone else have this problem?

though i don't understand how to implement the solution, there is a bug on bugzilla here on the gnome bugzilla site, so this isn't gentoo specific, but a general gnome problem. looks like the solution is more of a dirty hack than an actual fix, hopefully this will be fixed officially in the next release of gnome.
