I'm trying to make cedega working. I've emerged the lastest version (4.0.1)
and it don't seems to run.
When I do cedega aExeHere.exe it says
Code:

Your system requires the use of pthreads but the maximum system allowed stack size of 2052 kB may be too small for some games.
If you experience problems, try rerunning with "-use-pthreads no" which may help.

and then I return to the shell.
I've also tried with -use-pthreads no, but it's the same problem.
I've emerged all emul-linux* except the qt and gtk one.
Do I need to do something special to make cedega works ?

in a perfect world... cedega would run all exe's and there would be free Ice Cream for all!l... yet sadly this isnt the case... as far as I know there isnt a compatabilty listing of regular software w/ cedega, but the transgamming website does give a games listing w/ rating of 1-5 (1 being that the game wont even install and 5 being that it runs just as good as windows)

http://www.transgaming.com/searchgame.php
or for a complete list

But it didn't work with any game/program. Not even simple windows program that only makes one simple window.
But I'm returning to 32bit gentoo now, because there's to much work involved to make simple things work in 64bit like flash, video codecs, games, ...

Try export LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/usr/lib32
Cedega works for me fine on amd64, so it is possible.

I've already tried that, but without luck.
And now zsnes doesn't find a lib anymore (libz or something)
and when I try to reemerge it, it says that I need gcc with multilib.
And when I try to reemerge gcc with multilib, it fails.
But I will return to 32bit, so that this won't be a problem anymore.

I had this same problem. I think it has to do with Native Posix Threading Library (NPTL) not being used and Linux Threads being used in glibc.

To check for NPTL just type "emerge -pv glibc" and if you see a blue "-nptl" instead of a red "+nptl" you'll know that it is not being used.

To add it, just add NPTL to your use flags and reemerge glibc. This should fix your cedega error and you may notice a small speedup since NPTL is slightly faster than Linux Threads.

Cheers,

Bob

I tired adding nptl to my USE flags, though I get this as a blocker:

Code:
root@m30-107 WINO # emerge -av glibc

These are the packages that I would merge, in order:

Calculating dependencies ...done!
[blocks B     ] sys-kernel/linux-headers ("virtual/os-headers" from pkg sys-kernel/linux26-headers-2.6.8.1)
[ebuild  N    ] sys-kernel/linux26-headers-2.6.8.1  -build  0 kB
[ebuild   R   ] sys-libs/glibc-2.3.4.20040808-r1  -build -debug -debug -erandom -hardened -makecheck -multilib +nls +nptl -pic -userlocales  9 kB

Total size of downloads: 9 kB

Any way round this?
