Hi,
I've got a Realtek card here, it's 8169S32. Works already, but it's driver could use some updates:
http://members.home.nl/keizerflipje/linux/2.6.8.1/realtek8169-napi.patch
This enables the Network API for r8169 cards. Basically NAPI should reduce load on you're system when lots of traffic is being received.
I've tested this patch myself, and it worked fine on my machine.
Please test it, post your experiences to this thread... including what brand card you have, maybe we can get this patch included into the mainline kernel...

How did I test it? I transfered several GBs of data to and from the machines without any crashes or the likes... |

I tested this one:
Target Network Gigabit Ethernet Adapter (24302)
It has a Realtek 8169S32 chip on it, it's 32bit PCI only card.
