What is comand for listing memory usage and the command for what services are running

The command is "top"

You can also use KDE System Guard or Gnome's equivalent (not sure what it's called, but I've used it before) to get a graphical interperetation. The KDE System Guard will also list all the processes, which you can rarely get to all fit on the screen using top.

gnome-system-monitor .. think it used to be just plain old gtop .. guess we just have to complicate things.
