I've been running Xebian with the Mechassault exploit for ages, but I fancy putting gentoo on instead. Does anyone have it running in this manner? Is a mod-chjp a necessity, or is there a workaround?
Cheers,

Could you do this:
1. Create a directory (or even better... plug in a decent sized USB drive) (e.g. /gentoo)
2. Unpack a stage tarball, chroot in and set it up in the usual way.
3. Boot off the Debian install media or whatever, drop to a shell
4. Mount the drive partition(s) and blast away everything except /gentoo.
5. Recursively copy the contents of /gentoo to / (hint try: tar -C /gentoo -c . -f - | tar -C / -xvf -)
Do some final touchups... reboot... then enjoy.
Note: I don't own an X-Box or gaming console of any kind... the above is a theoretical procedure and has not been tested. -- Do a backup of the system if you're worried about your installation. _________________ Stuart Longland (a.k.a Redhatter, VK4MSL)
I haven't lost my mind - it's backed up on a tape somewhere...
