I get seg faults when trying to install Gentoo 1.4 as well as the newest version.
Setup:
Dual AMD 1200 cpus (I know these are old, but they were $39 a piece new, and have been sitting on my desk for about a year, will upgrade to 2800 or fatser soon)
Gigabyte GA-7dpxdw+ motherboard
USB keyboard and mouse (I read somewhere that the motherboard had a bug with ps2 input devices) This seemed true as only windows (ugh, I know 2003 server was able to deal with this motherboard with ps2 input attached)
1 gig ram (2x512) work fine in all systems plus memtests
video- nvida geforce4 mx 64mb
Knoppix runs fine (usb input)
SUSE live cd runs fine (usb input)
windows server 2003 install and ruhs fine
windows xp pro runs fine (usb input)
Is anyone else running this board? Any issues?
I also tried to switch video cards ATI Radeon 9700 Pro, no luck
I really like gentoo, and would prefer to load this up on the box.
I planned to use this system as the start of my video editing system, but no luck. I wanted to use this as the backend for mythtv and eventually as a rendernode with the front end being a dual opteron system.
Thanks for any help with the AMD MP running (not running) GA-7dpxdw+. _________________ ---I used to use a mac -- now macs use Linux - I am backwards --
