well i dont know whats happening but everytime i login as root gnome throws all kinds of errors, applet errors, greeter program errors, file roller errors, segmentation faults etc...
sometimes it crashes to the extreme that i have to switch off the pc and on again... dont know whatś happening and of course, i dont know why it is or how to correct it... any help will be really appreciated.. i have to login as root to do some things over there.

i had this problem once, and i found deleting ~/.gnome2 and ~.gnome fixed the problem
logging into gnome as root |

Hmm, maybe noy exactly what you asked, but wouldn't it be easy to just log in as a user and then use gnomesu to do the things you have to do as root? Maybe that's more easy, I never like to log in as root. |

That's even better, but I assumed he wanted to do some things graphically, because he wanted to log in to gnome as root. |

Slightly Off Topic
Wouldn't logging in as a normal user and then running "sux -" do it? Is that the same as gnomesu?

Yeah, I believe that is the same. gnomesu, kdesu, sux (first time I read about sux I believe). They come in handy if you want to run a graphical program as root. |
