At least judging from the first line on http://www.kde.org/info/3.3.php:
Quote:
KDE 3.3 was released on August 19th, 2004.

For now the files are not available yet, nor is the announcement

Wouter

EDIT: 12:00 GMT: you can start downloading

Can someone give me a quick overview of the major changes/features from KDE 3.2 to 3.3?

A bit faster. Start-up time is several seconds shorter than on 3.2.3

Per-window settings. For example, I have set it so that Kmail always starts in Desktop 2 and it doesn't steal focus when it does.

Kontact has been seriously improved, although I don't have any specifics, I didn't use it in beta2

RSS-feed in Universal Sidebar

New profiles in Konqueror (for example, minimal web-browser)

Cleaned up toolbars

spam-filter in Kmail

Theme-manager

Among others. In short: another kick-ass release ;)!

Files have been uploaded!

EDIT: Dammit, too slow :)

EDIT2: Folks! Don't use the primary KDE-server! Use a mirror or wait 'till it's in Portage!

Just the usual

Code:
emerge kde

however, it will propably be masked ~x86 at first, so you might want to add it to yout package.keywords.

Have Fun

Of course not, since the ebuild is not in portage yet. Which is not very astonishing, since the official announcement is not there, either.

A little bit of patience, please.

(To check if the ebuild is there have a look at /usr/portage/kde-base/kde* )

The ebuilds for 3.3 are not in portage yet. You might want to try to copy the 3.3_rc2 ebuilds to 3.3 and see if it works.
Code:
for i in /usr/portage/kde-base/kde* ; do
  if [ -f $i-3.3_rc2.ebuild ] ; then
    cp $i/$i-3.3_rc2.ebuild $i/$i-3.3.ebuild
  fi
done

EDIT: And similar if you want arts too
EDIT2: Yes, this doesn't work if you just copy it...

Not all the ebuilds are there yet. I'm emerging arts, libs, base, multimedia, and network now. For those that haven't yet, you might want to fetch the files before the rush (/.) hits the servers.

Or wait after the rush for the release of KDE 3.3.1 :)

It's not, I saw that there were xdelta files for all the packages but none were bigger than 300k or so. There's changes for all the packages it seems.

Well I have the kdelibs and kdebase 3.3.0 compiled and running.

I haven't noticed too many new things. The new logout dialog is nice, and the new pager sure looks better than that old beveled thing.

Are the kdeartwork builds in portage already? I don't want to sync every 2 hours to check...

I have it ~x86... Maybe you're still seeing the RC2?
