Hi folks
I have a setup where my gentoo box uses xinetd to launch vnc servers on the fly, and queries the local xdmcp. It all works fine as it always has in pre-Gentoo eras, but I need to have one thing confirmed:
say I have my Gnome session via SSH (or xfce, or whathaveyou). When I hit "logout", well, it doesn't, what it does is kill all the apps, but when using VNC is does not return me to gdm, nor does it disconnect me - so when I close the window I have the impression I'm literally killing my X server, which can't be good? (I have bad experiences of killing X servers and finding reiserfs had messed up my config files).
Ideally VNC should respawn or return me to gdm, no?
Can anyone tell me:
a) that it's not important
or b) how to get VNC to actually return me to gdm?
thx for any tips - maybe this belong on a VNC mailing list, I'll try that if I must
