|
|
Hello,
I plan to buy FSC A-1630 tomorrow and I plan to install Gentoo on it. Since I need it for programming I don't plan to use 64bit Gentoo yet.
My questions are:
1. Will I be able to install and run Gentoo in 32bit mode without problems on this notebook?
2. Will ATI driver work?
3. Does someone know what drivers to install for ATI and how to setup X for WXGA (1280x800)?
4. I plan to use 2.6.x kernel, will suspend to disk work?
5. Have anyone had luck with Gentoo installation on AMD64 based notebook?
Any answer will mean a lot to me, Thanx!
Cheers |

The only thing I haven't got working yet is the winmodem, but I haven't tried too hard.
Haven't had any problems with the hardware except for an occasional flicker of the screen.
I do beleive there are others installs on AMD laptops, emachines comes to mind. |
