Loads of people have managed it - just do a search for "Gentoo on vmware".
You should probably post the exact error, and what you did to lead up to that point so that people have a better chance of helping you fix it. _________________ No-one's more important than the earthworm. |

VMWare use SCSI emulation and u must use /dev/sda instead of /dev/hda, with slackware for example will be the same, I suggest u to try with Microsoft Virtual PC 2004, it's better than VmWare |

Yes, I have installed Gentoo on VMware successfully, however I'm having trouble getting it to boot after properly.
I used IDE when defining my VM for VMware... The reason being, because I searched the forums extensively before I did it, and most people indicated that IDE was less trouble.
Also, remember to enable BusLogic support in the kernel if you chose that too...
