You have to alter /etc/fstab and change /dev/swap to whatever your swap partition is (mine is /dev/hda6 for example)

i didn't think of changing it in /fstab but should i have to when i set it as swap whne i initially installed it??

Code:
makswap /dev/hda2
swapon /dev/hda2

and also in fdisk at the beging i tagged /dev/hda2 as linux swap (82)

i will try editing the fstab though

mkswap formats it as a swap partition and swapon will initialize the swap for that session so you should edit fstab to make it automatically initialize swap at boot time

Yes... how would you new system know you did it?

That just sets it up so it can be used as swap-space - you still have to tell your system where to find it.
