Hi!
I installed a new Gentoo Linux system! Now I have one question:
I'd like to create a few users for my family, so that everyone has it's one mail accounts in thunderbird and so on... but the global settings should be the same for all users. Is it possible to create 3 users with the same desktop and the same settings (font size, ...) or do I have to configure every user for itself?
Thank you, Lockheed |

There are many approaches to this, but you can start in /etc/skel/ and set up the .bashrc and .bash_profile so that when you make a new user it will get those default settings. Also global configurations for your desktop, depending on what you are using, can be edited in /usr/local /usr/share and so on. Then for thunderbird, you an set it up on each home directory (with the hidden .configuration files). |

Thank you for your fast reply!
I'm using KDE.. is it possible to set a default desktop (with links and so on) for new users?

For adding users, see the FAQ entry in the FAQ Forum.
Moved from Installing Gentoo (for the X/GUI questions). _________________ Quis separabit? Quo animo? |
