hi again
I have decided to put gentoo on my main machine after playing on my old pII-400 - even went and got a new hd for this
my question is this - where are the aic7xxx modules on the live cd? when I go to modprobe as per the instructions at 3.2 in the guide I get
/etc/modules.conf is more recent than /lib/modules/2.4.19-xfs-r1/modules.dep
modprobe: Can't locate module aic7xxx
I'm wondering if I need to
a) untar the stage 3 tarball I downloaded first
or
b) do the modprobe later in the process (after the kernel compile?)
or
c) download the module separately using lynx (if so how?)
any other tips on this install would be greatly appreciated - sys specs are:
PIII-1Ghz not overclocked
Asus CUV4X-DLS bios 1016
1.5G CL2 RAM
dual channel Ultra160 SCSI
2x9G IBM SCSI hd (lun 0 with win2k, lun 1 with data/backups)
1x36G Seagate SCSI (1 backup primary partition, extended partition with 3 logical drives for gentoo ready and waiting)
1x Plextor CD-RW SCSI
Geforce 3-500ti
Symbios 53C1010-33 controller onboard
Onboard LAN - Intel 82559
I'm really wanting to jump in and get this this working with gentoo after my experiences with it on this old p2
thanks |
