Samba and Codepage problems

Okey boys and girls .
I have my server running on gentoo with samba as my share server .
My client is also a gentoo machine .
Now my client is set to codepage 861 and my samba server is set to receive clients on codepage 861.
But when ever i use Icelandic letters i get ? on my console .
This has been painful because of my ftp site , that is if you cue a file called "Áfram".
The server will say that the file "Áfram" is not found because to him the file is call "?fram"
I have tried to set the cp to 850 but with the same problem
Can anyone save my from this painful problem ?
