My gentoo install seems to be getting very slow is there anything i should be doing to keep it fast like deleting temp files or anything like that?

i have exactly the same problem with one server. right now i am on my way to eliminate reiserfs and switch to xfs. normaly i use xfs or jfs as file system, but for this server i wanted to try something new. well... in 1 hour i can tell you if this was a issue. beside that i will bootstrap the system and go back to 2.6.7 kernel. with the 2.6.8.1 kernel series i only have trouble.
if you find out something wich helps, then post it into the forum.
