Hiya there guys,
This will be the 3rd day, tinkering with how to properly setup "Gentoo", and just got the NIC card to recognize today, and got "Gentoo" in my box just fine.
This is what I used for the "Gentoo" installation...
I want to get "Winex" installed, 'cause of my sisters love for playing "Everquest", but what I'm unclear of is if I have to install "KDE" first, and then layer it up with "Winex" or what?
Is there a tutorial anywhere or is there a quick way to get "KDE" and "Winex" installed, configured, and ready to use or if all I need is "Winex" in my box; I have the same request for that as well.
I know what I ask is an awful lot, but being a person that's worked with all Commodore, Microsoft, Apple/Macintosh OSs' for about 14 years, I feel that this can't be too much harder.
I'll be near.
Take'r easy for now there guys!

Well, ok...
Portage is a really wonderful system, and as such, if something is needed to install something else, it takes care of it, so 99.9% of the time, you will never need to worrie about it... Emerge in the order you want.
Secondly, WineX is kindda well integrated in KDE however (maybe in Gnome too, never checked), so you might want that too, I guess, to have your little icons and menus and stuff, but thats just personal preference.
Thirdly, the version of WineX installed by Portage is the open version, which does not have installshield support, nor copy protection support.
What that means in english is, most games won't install out of the box. If you want them to, go to www.transgaming.com, pay their 15$ subscription thingny, and use the prepackaged version... That will do the trick.
Keep in mind however, that Everquest support is more of a show off thing for now, as it runs INSANELY POORLY in WineX (its basicaly unplayable), so if you want to install WineX just for that...better return to Windows for the time being...
Hope that helps,
