Is it absoulutely necessary to depend on "=app-crypt/gpgme-0.3.14-r1"
That particular version is masked and there are newer versions that are not.

And when I try to compile:
Quote:
cuardin@beech:/usr/local/portage/mail-client/sylpheed-claws;)env USE="-crypt" sudo emerge sylpheed-claws-0.9.12-r2.ebuild
Calculating dependencies ...done!
>>> emerge (1 of 1) mail-client/sylpheed-claws-0.9.12-r2 to /
>>> md5 src_uri ;-) sylpheed-claws-0.9.12.tar.bz2
>>> md5 src_uri ;-) sylpheed-claws-0.9.12-gtk2.patch.bz2
gtk2
pdflib

* Can not build ghostscript-viewer plugin with gtk2 patch
*
* Remove one of use flags before emerging. For example:
* USE="-gtk2" emerge sylpheed-claws

!!! ERROR: mail-client/sylpheed-claws-0.9.12-r2 failed.
!!! Function pkg_setup, Line 58, Exitcode 0
!!! please remove conflicting use flag

Doesn't this sort of defeat the point. When I read the ebuild I notice that I can also remove te pdflib flag. It should definately say which options I have.

And finally:
Quote:
checking for IPv6 support... yes
checking for openssl >= 0.9.7... yes
checking OPENSSL_CFLAGS...
checking OPENSSL_LIBS... -lssl -lcrypto -ldl
checking for library containing encrypt... -lcrypt
checking for pkg-config... (cached) /usr/bin/pkg-config
checking for GTK+ - version >= 2.4.0... no
*** Could not run GTK+ test program, checking why...
*** The test program failed to compile or link. See the file config.log for the
*** exact error that occured. This usually means GTK+ is incorrectly installed.
configure: error: Test for GTK failed. See the file 'INSTALL' for help.

!!! ERROR: mail-client/sylpheed-claws-0.9.12-r2 failed.
!!! Function econf, Line 362, Exitcode 1
!!! econf failed

It seems that the dependeny needs to be updated as this program needs >=gtk+2.4

First, thanks for the patch ;)

After compiling it, I've noticed some problems:
the permissions for /usr/share/sylpheed-claws/themes/tml02c/ are wrong (or too restrictive...).
I've set them to 755 for the directory and to 644 for all the files.

If I try to access my Inbox, Sylpheed dies with a segmentation fault:
Code:

(sylpheed-claws:17478): Sylpheed-WARNING **: Valid locale type set? (Currently: US-ASCII to UTF-8)

Segmentation fault

If you need more infos, just let me know ;)

regards,
chris

thanks for testing. :)

can you provide `tail -n 30` (or a bit more) of strace output?

# strace sylpheed-claws

sure...
Code:

select(7, [6], NULL, NULL, {60, 0})     = 1 (in [6], left {60, 0})
read(6, ")\r\n", 3)                     = 3
getpid()                                = 28051
write(2, "\n(sylpheed-claws:28051): Sylphee"..., 101

) = 101
--- SIGSEGV (Segmentation fault) @ 0 (0) ---

I think it has something to do with the encoding of the last message...
because if I select another IMAP-folder which doesn't contains a message with Umlauts, Sylpheed works correctly.
