|
|
Hi,
I was wondering how I could set up my LiveCD generated with Catalyst to load up XFree86 automatically and allow it to configure itself automatically (w/o user input) for use on a wide range of systems?
Would using xorg be a better choice?, my preference is to use XFree86 since I require a special input device driver for it (touchscreen), if I had to use xorg would this driver be compatible?
Thanks! |

and add it to the default runlevel on the livecd. To get X to load automatically add gdm, kdm, or xdm to your default runlevel. you may want to add a regular user to the system as the livecd generates root only.
Edit: mkxf86config works for bothe xfree86 and xorg. I recommend xorg, but use whatever works best for you |

mkxf86config seems to work fine. Nice of of xf86config-4.in templates.
The first time I tried it it detected an unknown videocard for my radeon and when loading up xfree it would crash. Removing kernel support for the framebuffer seemed to fix it. (unrelated to mkxf86config though) |
