When I go to log out of GNOME and choose to either restart the system or shut it down, it simply returns to the GDM instead of doing either of them. Anyone know how to fix this? |

You might not be able to do it as a user and GDM runs as root, which is why it can, so try setting the SUID bit on the /sbin/shutdown program: Code: | # chmod a+s /sbin/shutdown | Disclaimer: THIS IS VERY INSECURE. I only recommend it if you have a setup like mine, where its basically a single-user (I am both root and peter) box. If you're running a multi-user or SSH-enabled box, this is probably not the best idea, as people can then shutdown the system without your permission. _________________ ~~ Peter: Programmer, Mathematician, STEM & Free Software Advocate, Enlightened Agent, Transhumanist, Fedora contributor
