my first time install, third post on same issue with NO results!!!!
while booting system halts with the following text:

i have tried adding variations of acpi=on/acpi=off and other arguments with the kernel........

do you use apci? if not try turning it off on your bios. This was an issue with some asus boards a while back, but can;t remember if its been sorted yet or not |

yeah, i actually got an error message when i had an acpi problem. Sorry thats my lot, still a noob really. Hope you get it sorted |

Sorry, but I am confused!?
What kernel are you using to boot your machine? Looks like you're
trying to boot from the LIVE cd or is this your own kernel?
Furthermore, the kernel you're trying to boot was compiled using
hardened-gcc. Is this intentional?
If you're trying to boot from a live CD try selecting a kernel without
ACPI and SMP (IIRC one of the F* keys should allow you to do so). |

i think you are booting live cd. try different commads to boot gentoo. at least one should work. |
