I have a DWL-650 wireless 802.11b card, and I want it to work with Kismet etc... I was wondering if anyone knew how to install the correct drivers on gentoo?
I've tried emerging linux-wlan-ng, but there are problems with it. One thing that looks wrong right off the bat is the "Linux WLAN Configuration Script" which it runs and uses the default values without asking me. It sasy only build Prism2 for PCI (I want PCMCIA, right?) And also my net interface is eth0 instead of wlan0 which it looks like it wants, though I edited /etc/conf.d/wlan.conf and replaced "wlan0" with "eth0".
Once it's installed, all that wlan-ctl-ng says is "Operation not supported", and PCMCIA usually refuses to work anymore.
Has anyone gotten the DWL-650 to work in monitor mode with Kismet? |

for the pcmcia problem in linux-wlan-ng, you'll need to add "pcmcia" to your USE flags. |
