printer and keyboard

Hello again...
i guess this is not gentoo-specific but i don't know where to adjust my keyboard.
If i write on the console everything is well, it makes pipes and so on but on an x-terminal
it won't. Where can i adjust it?
My printer also, i use cups and added him via localhost:631 and he prints test-pages (it's a remote printer with an own printserver) but when i want to print something else...
The printer is added in /etc/cups/printers.conf
