hey guys..i just got gentoo up with lvm2, sshd, and samba...my question is...howcome when i copy a movie from my cd drive (avi.) to my lv it copies so slow?....im using xfs because i heard its good with big files...i was just wondering if there was a reason it takes so long to copy..thanks alot..ttyl |

Well, what brand is your drive? How fast is it (CD-speed, e.g. 48x)? Is it a burned CD (dumb question)? At what speed was is burned?
(if it was burned too fast reading is slow because the recorder was in a hurry and some data might be corrupt)

yea...to tell u the truth now that i think of it i think the cd drive read speed is just slow, its an older drive..i just kinda remeber it being faster when i had my hdd formatted with reiser.....maybe its just me...lol..thanks again |
