:( Last may I installed Gentoo on a Dell C610 laptop -- good install!
I used the 2004.0 live disc. I just upgraded my desktop and used the
same 2004.0 disc to do another install on the desktop. I took the stage3 tarball off of the live cd, emerged snyc, downloaded Kernel 2.6.8-gentoo-r1 and downloaded xfree86. Everything looks good up to this point. I ran into trouble downloading kde. I emerged kde and only got the base system. The download ended prematurely with the warnings:

!!! ERROR: media-lib/imlib-1.9.14-r1 failed
!!! function src-compile, line 53 exitcode 2
!!! (no error message)

I then emerged each kde package until I found the one producing the error. (I only had the base system)
"emerge kdegraphics" is the one producing the error. -- Everything else seems to be working fine. I using kde (konqueror) to query this forum! As I said I believe I have a good install, but I would like to get this resolved. I was thinking of "emerge world", but felt it was better to ask for some advice first! I would appreciate some feedback!!!!
Thanks in advance -- Larry

Try emerging imlib first by itself and see if that changes anything.

What USE flags are you using?

Are you using -p for the emerge? Could it be you have a blocking package or something?

Have you --sync'd lately as well?

Just tossing ideas out there... :)

I did a sync, no luck. I tried -p, got emerge media-lib/imlib-1.9.14-r1. This also failed with the same error message. Is there a chance I screwed something up compiling the kernel, or setting up xFree86? I seem to have goodvideo! Thanks again -- Larry
