Hey all,
This is an interesting problem. I am using gnome 2.6 and after using it for a day or so, my keyboards just stop working in gnome only. They continue to work in a virtual terminal and in openbox. If I delete all of the gnome dot folders (.gconf, .gnome2, .gnome2-private, etc) and start over, the keyboards will work again for a little bit. Now I don't think that the answer is just delete those files every couple of days but.......................
Any ideas,
scoon
update: It appears that this could be a gconf issue. When I delete ~/.gconf/desktop/gnome/peripherals/keyboard and then start gnome, everything works, including my multimedia keys. The oddest thing. There is a mention in it on bugs.gnome.org but no resolution.
updated update: Well this is still going on and it is now about to the point where every time I log out, the keyboard stops working!!!!!! So I will ask again if anyone here is having any troubles like this. _________________ Hope this helps........ |

Thank you. I am glad I am not the only one. What do you do to get your keys back ?

I just rm ~/.gconf/apps/gnome_settings_daemon/*. Then i have to re-set some stuff, but it is the only way I can seem to get this to work. |

Hey there,
Try my way, less re-configure time.
