Hi,
I just installed gentoo last night (first time gentoo user). Everything went very well! The only problem is that when I issue "free" command to find out memory usage, it reports the wrong information: I have 256M (I am going to buy 512M today) PC2700 installed, but "free" reports that I only have "183M", what happened to the rest of the memory?
Another question I have is: has anyone tried the latest BIOS (v1.44) from MSI yet? Should I upgrade it?

Hi,
I found out the reason for incorrect memory information returned by "free": I set "AGP Aperture Size" to 32M, and it should be something bigger than 32M. Once I changed it from 32M to 128M, "free" starts to report correct information. |
