|
|
I can get to the console (thanks lynx) but an unable to launch X. I get the message:
(WW) NVIDIA: No matching Device section for instance (BusID PCI:1:0:0) found
(EE) No devices detected.
I got this message using the same xorg.conf file that worked before.
I switch motherboards to an Asus KT880 based board. Changing the bios option to letting a plug-n-play OS didn't help. I don't see my card (geforce 5600FX) under /proc/interrupts:
CPU0
0: 1260524 IO-APIC-edge timer
1: 4342 IO-APIC-edge i8042
2: 0 XT-PIC cascade

20: 24 IO-APIC-level libata
21: 0 IO-APIC-level ehci_hcd

Any help much appreciated! Oh, also I don't have agpgart enabled since nvidias has in the past been the one that worked. _________________ Stephen

It works now, I think solved by passing "proc=noirq" as a boot option. From my grub.conf:
title=Gentoo Linux 2.6.8.1-mm3 with reiser4 pci=noirq
root (hd0,0) pci=noirq
kernel (hd0,0)/boot/bz2.6.8.1-mm3 root=/dev/hda3
