|
|
System starts up normally until Code: | * Checking all filesystems...
bread: End of file, cannot read the block (1251053).
Warning... fsck.reiserfs for device /dev/sda5 exited with signal 6.
Reiserfs super block in block 16 on 0x806 of format 3.6 with standard journal
Blocks (total/free): 502023/491905 by 4096 bytes
Filesystem marked as cleanly umounted
Replaying journal..
.
. (similar messages for sda6 to sda10)
.
* Fsck could not correct all errors, manual repair needed
Give root password for maintenance
(or type Control-D for normal startup): |
When typing now Control-D the system boot continues without any problem, all partitions got mounted and the system operates, as if the above error never happened.
(I had to write the above by hand, because this part did not show up in dmesg or /var/log/messages) _________________ Las torturas mentales de la CIA |

No users of mm-sources here?
I tried a lot of different sources by now, but always returned to mm-sources, they are just fine. But at the moment I can't use the latest version due to this annoying problem (I don't always want to have to push Control-D during boot). _________________ Las torturas mentales de la CIA |

Thank's, Mafteah, that did it.
Any idea, if that was a bug or an improvement failing on fsck.reiser? _________________ Las torturas mentales de la CIA |

And your patch reversed it to a save condition?
I was reading lots of problems with truncated files, but I assume that was without applying your patch.
Maybe I really should go for another kernel on my daily use workstation, something that's a little more stable, but I already got so used to mm-sources (had to go for it in the first place, when it was the first one that had the fixes for my nforce2 board embedded). _________________ Las torturas mentales de la CIA |
