I have installed gentoo-stats 0.1 and created a new id with the option --new. No problem.
When i excute gentoo-stats --update ID... I get the message
"ERROR: client protocol too low, please update"
Has anyone the same message, can it be ignored?

You need to update gentoo-stats. The current version is 0.4. It's actually changed quite a bit since 0.1. Your ID (and some other configuration) is also now kept in /etc/gentoo-stats/gentoo-stats.conf with the newer versions.
