I had my home directory to another hd, so i reinstall gentoo and gnome , i keep all my config file except in gnome and all is ok. Except one thing, i don't see anything on my desktop even if i have something into my desktop folder. I dont even see the trash icon or home folder, ...

It has happen to me that i didnt see some icons cause they were too far off the screen... This is generally caused when you change icon zooming or resolution.
If it isnt a nautilus rendering problem, you can try to rearrange icons by right-clicking on the desktop and you should see them. |

well metacity and nautilus are two different things.
metacity is a window manager while nautilus is a file manager (and also the program that draw your desktop)
If you have no idea what is metacity you certainly do run it, as it is the deafult in gnome. Anyway I just asked this because some window manager prevent nautilus from drawing your desktop correctely.
Well what now? Try to run gnome with a new user. check if the problem appears.
If everything is normal it means that your configuration files may be messed up. You can easely erase all gnome config files with
If the problem also appears with the new user, I suggest to recompile at least nautilus. |
