|
|
Hi,
I recently upgraded vpopmail from 5.2.2-r1 to 5.4.6-r1 and I can't get it to work. I get loads of errors like the following;
Quote: | vmysql: sql error[3]: MySQL server has gone away |
Basically, no matter what command I try to execute, it complains that it cannot find MySQL. For example, if I execute Code: | printf "postmaster@mydomain.com\0mypass\0blah\0" | vchkpw `which id` 3<&0 | it balks. I know MySQL is running as I'm able to login, etc.
I tried changing permissions and owners of both /etc/vpopmail.conf and /var/vpopmail/bin/vchkpw and it had no effect. I had to revert to v 5.2.2-r1 in desperation (needed my mailserver).
Has anybody experienced similar problems after upgrading? Are there any known issues? Have I forgotten to do anything?

Have you modified /etc/vpopmail.conf
From old format:
MYSQL_UPDATE_SERVER localhost
MYSQL_UPDATE_USER vpopmail
MYSQL_UPDATE_PASSWD secret
MYSQL_READ_SERVER localhost
MYSQL_READ_USER vpopmail
MYSQL_READ_PASSWD secret
To the new one:
# Read-only DB
localhost|0|vpopmail|secret|vpopmail
# Write DB
localhost|0|vpopmail|secret|vpopmail |

Thank you very much Tixx.
I wasn't aware the file had changed format. This usualy comes to light when you run 'etc-update' after an emerge.
I SSHd in from work, emerged the up-to-date version, made the changes you recommended, and it works fine.
Thanks again,
