Had the exact same problem with 2.60. I used ext2, ext3 and reiser. No diff. Can't wait to find out how you get around to fixing your system. I too want to get to VDR and MythTV. However, I will be using in conjunction with a Hauppauge Nexus-S 2.3 Satellite Card, as opposed to a PVR card.

P.S. - I have been attempting to download 2.6.0.3 for the last 2.5 days. Still downloading. Hope to finish download before the storm hits, power failures, and much worse possibly. |

Good luck for Wilma... Btw, try 2.60.3 and then tell me if you still have problems. The cause is harder to find but could be related to DHCP/NIC problems. If the problem persists, contact Gentoo Linux Installer developer, since that part of code is still "vanilla" _________________ http://www.sabayon.org |

I have 2.60.3 that's the most recent release you have. I downloaded it Thursday from bittorrent.
I don't think I saw anything that stood out in the log file for the installer. |

Patches were corrupted, so I had to remove them from scarlet server and re-upload. Try to download 2.60 to 2.60.3 now, it should work... I'm downloading it right now to test if it's ok. _________________ http://www.sabayon.org |

Patch working fine now, in fact writing this from livedvd
One question though, has livedvd got support for lvm2 and linux software raid? _________________ Work Station - 64bit

Yes both, and Linux SW RAID works like a charm without anything in particular. You don't have to modprobe anything, just follow the gentoo guide. if you don't know what to do _________________ http://www.sabayon.org |

Hi lxnay!
First of all, congratulations for your excellent work. Your liveDVD is becoming very usefull, and famous
I'd just like to ask you, why don't you have a ftp for RR4 like for RR64? There are plenty more ppl with x86 archs then with a64!
I've downloaded RR64, but the RR4 one... Says "1yr 2d 5h left"... lol!

I have downloaded the 2.6.3. It is very good!
But how can I install the DVD the hard disk?
I ran installer in the terminal. When it went to choose the hard disk, it ended with a message as this:
The setup program seems failure. |

Don't use Gentoo Installer as root, please use Gentoo Installer as tecnico user (by ONLY pressing enter at KDM Login) and let me know _________________ http://www.sabayon.org |

GLI needs to re create some cache files and on DVD this operation takes about 7 minutes Sorry but that's not my fault, I'll try to fix that if it's possible. _________________ http://www.sabayon.org |

Thanks to NVIDIA driver and bad support for OLD VGA... Please use "genuine" mode or "vesa". _________________ http://www.sabayon.org |

Hi there again!
I'm doing the famous stage 1 on 3 install (using reiser4 and ntpl), using your RR4 2.60.3 has a liveCD environment.
Even after chrootin, i'm getting a sandbox warning everytime i do an emerge.
I've used your "stage3" available on the DVD, and the portage snapshot (which i've sync'd later)
The problem is, i have to emerge with FEATURES="-usersandbox", but emerge hangs randomly.
For example, when i "emerge gcc-config glibc libstdc gcc", the emerge emerged gcc-config and libstdc, but it didn't gave any errors, it just completed.
After that, the next emerge (always using FEATURES="-usersandbox") hanged the whole system.. Again.
Why is this happening? Please give me a clue...

Hi! lxnay. I do what you told me to install the DVD to my hard disk.
But the installer deleted all my partitions. It is a little crazy. |

Hi again.
I'm just reporting that using your liveCD RR4 v2.30, my problem stopped happening.
No longer emerge hangs, no longer sandbox gives errors..
I don't understand
Ah! Strange thing:
I had to re-format my root(reiser4) and boot(ext3) partitions, since the 2.30 liveCD didn't recognize the FS'es made by the 2.60.3!!! This CANT be normal, what is wrong?
I guess (just a tip) that the IDE driver loaded for my HDD in the new LiveDVD's Kernel isn't appropriate. That's why partitions got screwed up, and emerge randomly hanged. But that's just me talking.. Still a newb, u know...
Sorry for worrying you, lxnay

That's the problem! Reiser4 is _STILL_ experimental ! That's because your system hangs. Try not using Reiser4 until a new kernel version comes out (and will be included in RR4). _________________ http://www.sabayon.org |

Unfortunately i can't download the x64 iso because the ftpserver is down. And i can't use bittorrrent because it is killing my internet connection constantly! _________________ Kororaa install method - have Gentoo up and running quickly and easily, fully automated with an installer! |
