For broadband access under Windows XP my ISP supplied a Speedtouch 330 modem. I can't seem to get it to work under Gentoo (or any other distro) so I wondered whether I'd be better replacing it with a cheap router?
It seems that since the router would use my NIC as a WAN interface rather than the USB port as used by the Speedtouch, this would be less problematic. Is this the case? Can anyone advice me further? |

In general one can say that ethernet modems ( where routers are inlcuded ) are a bit less OS-dependent. _________________ Part of "The adopt an unanswered post initiative" |
