|
|
Anyone know of any software available for Linux that's designed for constructing maps of cities/dungeons/countryside for RPG campaigns a la D&D?
I'm looking for something along the lines of ProFantasy's Campaign Cartographer (http://profantasy.com/Products/cc2.asp), but so far I've been out of luck. I need something that's good for laying out and printing maps for the module I'm constructing for Neverwinter Nights.
Any help provided would be greatly appreciated! |

In a word, no, there isn't.
AutoRealm has been GPL'd, and there is some work afoot to port it, but as it uses obscure bits of delphi, progress isn't great.
To make matters worse, most of the decent windows ones are really poorly supported under wine.
If I was capable, I'd be writing one myself. As it is I'm stuck using Campaign Cartographer on an older windows machine.
I believe there are some online and/or Java-based packages around, but most of the ones I've found have been far too limited for my purposes |

i've stumbled across exactly the same problem. none of the programs that i want to use (including Campaign Cartographer) work under Wine without crashing every few minutes.
i've tried improvising using the Gimp, but it's just not designed for that purpose. you get into whole areas of the drawing process that i was hoping the program itself would take care of for me. i'm not an artist; i just want to be able to make rudamentary (sp?) maps so that my mates and i can see things in our heads a bit better as we are plotting out our campaigns.
oh well... thanks for the reply anyway . at least that gives me a little bump to see if anyone else has an answer . |

Yeah, I saw that one a few weeks ago, tried it, and was painfully slow.
Its a great premise, and hopefully one day it will deliver everything it promises. |
