I'm not hearing any sounds out of my pci SBLive card, and I think it's IRQ
related. I just installed a new Asus motherboard (via kt880).
I'm using alsa under gentoo. Restarting the services gives:
# /etc/init.d/alsasound restart
* WARNING: you are stopping a boot service.
* Unloading ALSA...
* Storing ALSA Mixer Levels
* Unloading modules
[ ok ]
* Loading ALSA drivers...
* Using ALSA OSS emulation
* Loading: snd-emu10k1
* Loading: snd-seq
FATAL: Module snd_seq not found.
* Loading: snd-emu10k1-synth
* Loading: snd-seq-midi
* Running card-dependent scripts
* Restoring Mixer Levels
My mixer levels (Master and PCM) are set.
# cat /proc/asound/cards
0 [Live ]: EMU10K1 - Sound Blaster Live!
Sound Blaster Live! (rev.5) at 0xef40, irq 18
/proc/interrupts has three devices on irq 18. Could this be a problem? From /proc/interrupts:
18: 8425 IO-APIC-level SysKonnect SK-98xx, EMU10K1 _________________ Stephen

To get any sound out of my emu10k1, I need to have master, PCM and wave set (and make sure they're not muted). To get sound out of the rear speakers, I have wave surround set as well. |

Do you have the kernel module snd_seq?
PCI allows the sharing of IRQ settings. With only 20 IRQs and the base system using something like 15 of them, they have to share. _________________ Part of "The adopt an unanswered post initiative" |

That did it. I don't remember having to set wave too ... Thanks.
