I was cleanning up my system today, when I accidentally uninstalled 'attr', and it appears to be a very necessary package....
But when I try to remerge it, I get an error that libattr.so is missing and that it cannot emerge.
So how would I remedy this? _________________ Rock over London!

It is not needed (unless you want to use extended attributes, which go beyond the ususal unix file permission attributes)

Can you post the exact error message? |

It seems that it was needed because I couldn't so much as use the command 'ls' without it complaining.
It's cool though, I just copied the libattr.so file off the live cd to my drive. Situation resolved. _________________ Rock over London!

You need attr if you set the "acl" use flag. if you unset that flag and reemerge coreutils, then you can unmerge attr. |
