|
|
A couple of questions (originally I wrote "One Question:", but when i was done with the post I could see the lie in that! )
In a dW-article describing devfs, our dear Mr. Robbins wrote that you should not load devfs on boot when you changed to devfs, is this also true for Gentoo (which is built for devfs)?
Since I played a little too much with my system & kernel I seem to have problems both when I have devfs=nomount and not in GRUB (Yep, my kernel is made with CONFIG_DEVFS_MOUNT)
I have lost my /dev permissions (Shouln't these be restored when I have devfs=nomount, or are they lost forever the fist time it is mounted at boot?),
and my text-mode consoles are gone when i start X, even if it is not started as a part of booting...
Do anyone have an idea of what I have screwed up?
edit: Corrections (I'm just a stoooopid Dane )

It used to be, but I've configured devfs to mount on boot since I started using Gentoo (late May), and the init scripts have accommodated it since then. I have seen one person recently who claimed to have trouble if this option was not selected (maybe link later). _________________ For every higher wall, there is a taller ladder |

Ok, thanx a lot, then I'm at least mostly sure that it is not because of that I'm having problems...
