I have a dual monitor setup with 2 Riva TNT video cards, and one of my screens will "bounce" occaisionally. The entire image shifts either up or down or sometimes the top and bottom will scrunch together. Always just for like half a second and then it snaps back into place. I thought it was a monitor problem so I just swapped out monitors and it still does the exact same thing on a different monitor.

Has anyone ever seen anything like this or have any clue if there are settings in my X configs or elsewhere that might affect this? I'm begining to suspect one of my video cards is screwy but it has worked in the past so that is hard to swallow as the problem.

Any thoughts appreciated!

Put more space between the monitors. :-)

Oddly enough you were right :) My buddy jokingly said the same thing right after I posted this and after re-arranging my desk it has gone away. YAY!

If you like having the monitors close to one another, a good (but ghetto) solution is to put a cardboard plate between them wrapped with tinfoil.

That, or any kind of metal sheeting, wire mesh... it works well.

Also, you can try adjusting each monitor's refresh rate independently of the other, to see if it alleviates the problem.
