Well, I can't seem to install GRUB, no matter how hard I try.
Here's the thing. I didn't create a seperate partition for /boot, so /boot simply resides on the / partition, which is /dev/hda2 on my system. But I can't get the grub-install script to work correctly. It says things like "Could not find device for /boot/boot". I'm quite certain that /boot/grub/grub.conf is set up correctly. So how can I get this to work? _________________ Windows, Linux, whatever. |

Promit, what type of install are you doing? i.e. Stage 1 or 2 or GRP? Another thing is check in fdisk if you have the bootable flag setup on your boot partition. You should see an asterik if it is set. Check the gentoo install doc to ensure you indeed setup grub according to your stage. _________________ I've been away for a long time, bear with me. |

I know you dealt with this already, but I'm posting my discovery anyway.
If you're having the problem he's describing then you forgot the Code: | cp /proc/mounts /etc/mtab | command. This explains why I couldn't get Knoppix or the LiveCD to use the grub-install command. |
